I did have a video visit with Dr Koh. Please keep in mind this is only my perspective. In that visit, a medical assistant started the meeting and was not clear or understanding why there was a follow-up visit on video. When Dr Koh came on the call, he seemed rush or as if he did not fully review previous tests with the Vascular Surgeon. As I had mentioned what has been happening, he quickly pivoted to review those notes in the Standford app. Once he realized this was a review of all the tests he had ordered, he did start to go through those tests.
On several occurrences I mentioned that it was difficult to hear him, not because of low sound (except for one occasion I had some background noise on my end that was outside or technology, but because he was talking fast with a mask on in a video session. I understand fears of protocols of CDC and perhaps Stanford for using masks, but on a video call it just does not seem appropriate and masks muffle speaking, and patient does not see lips moving or facial impressions to understand what the Dr is explaining, along with that the Dr is speaking quickly in medical terminology. When I asked a question, or tried to ask him to pause or repeat, he would roll his eyes as if he was frustrated.
I have had several video appointments with many doctors. Not one of them except Dr Koh wore a mask during a video conference and the experience was so much better that it was today.
Again, I do understand the need for masks in appropriate places and settings or to follow protocols... but, on a video call where the doctor is in a private room or setting common sense would tell me that wearing a mask is not only not needed, but the primary focus is allow the patent to gain a full understanding of what the doctor is explaining and sharing, and then to really understand and show concern for the patten.
Overall, Dr Koh is a good doctor, I am happy to have him as a primary care physician. However, this was the second online video visit with him, of which his schedule is so busy that it is very difficult if not impossible to schedule an in-person visit. Then, to be wearing a mask while he is on a video call and likely in a private room where he may be speaking from, just doesn't seem appropriate to allow full communication with the patient is at home in a private setting on a video call.

I’ve moved since Dr Koh has been my PC Doctor but I wanted to keep him vs change to another Doctor because he’s been excellent. I feel very lucky to have him but I now have a 3 hour drive to see him. So the video calls are a wonderful way to help me keep the Doctor I prefer. Doctor Koh has been my PC doctor for many years and he’s been a great doctor who’s very caring and very thorough. I wish all Doctors could be so good. He really sets the example of what a great PC should be.

What I have a problem with is Stanford Health Care main line you have to call. They are just an answering service that doesn't do their job very well. It is very frustrating that you cannot call the doctors office direct, this is a very inefficient way to do things especially if you need immediate assistance which I did.
