Dr. Thomas Chen was exceptional. Although not an expert in my type of cancer, he was so thorough in exploring my symptoms and so deliberately considered them that he shed new light on a condition I've had for 9 years.
I always appreciate my visit with Dr. Chen. He shows a lot of compassion and is a good listener. At times I'm describing any health issues I might be having and after speaking with him he clarifies a lot of what I'm feeling physically; by that I mean he helps me choose the correct words to pinpoint exactly what I'm feeling. he often refers back to our previous visit to follow up on any comments I made.

Since beginning of 2018, we have fighted the cancer disease together with Dr. Thomas Chen. Thourgh the past journey, we found Dr. Chen is professional and dedicated. He and his team work closely on arranging all of lab tests, scans, and treatments in the infusion center or in the radiation department. When the SHC South Bay facility ran out all resouces, Dr. Chen would suggest or promptly arrange us using other health facility in the areas, including med-port installation and non-cancer related treatments. In additiona, Dr. Chen also carefully checks all treatment side effects, and provide solution to ease our concerns during each appointment. We think 5 star is not enough to rate Dr. Chen's services.

He spent some time with me discussing other areas surrounding my cancer; my psychological health; my family and marriage. This was very much appreciated. We discussed issues for me that I felt I could only discuss with him, my doctor.

If there was a category beyond Very Good, that is where I would put Dr. Thomas Chen. I just love him and best of all, he answers all of my questions so that I understand. I feel he treats me like a partner in my health care, not some malady in human form. When I first met him, I asked a question that I had asked my previous doctor (I wouldn't recommend that man to treat man nor beast). Dr. Chen said "That's a little hard to explain. Let me think a minute." To me that's a great doctor and a very caring individual. He then explained in words that I understood, Bless his precious heart.
I have complete confidence in Dr. Tom Chen. Like me, he is a good scientist and understands the issues of data collection and interpretation.
Dr. Chen is a little reserved & not always good eye contact, but a very good oncologist.
Dr. Chen is my hematologist and focuses on managing my blood disorders, however, he is always very concerned about my overall health and ask questions relating to my other health problems. He monitors all aspects of my health and blood work even though it isn't directly related to my hematology issues. He spends a good amount of time with me during my appointments and never makes me feel like he is rushed or bothered by my questions. If ever he is concerned about a health problem I tell him about, he orders labs or scans and makes sure I have a referral to another doctor if it is something he cannot assess. I fully trust my life with Dr. Chen!
