About this Condition: Bladder Cancer
About Bladder Cancer
The bladder is a flexible organ shaped like a balloon that sits low in your pelvic area. Your bladder expands and contracts to help you urinate. The bladder has three primary layers. The surface layer inside your bladder is called mucosa. Beyond that is a layer called the lamina propria which is comprised of blood vessels and fat. The thick outer layer of the bladder is made of muscle. These layers are comprised of different types of cells. Cancer occurs when something goes wrong in the DNA of a cell and it begins to multiply out of control.
