Diagnosis
Floaters and Flashes Diagnosis
Floaters and flashes generally do not pose a problem, but we are always ready to speak with you about your concerns. We do urge you to call us if you experience:
- Sudden increase in the number and size of floaters and flashes
- Appearance of a shadow or dark curtain in your side (peripheral) vision
- Trouble seeing
- Seeing flashing lights in your vision
These warning signs can indicate a torn retina. While that is not always the case, the only way to tell is with an eye exam. Our doctors dilate your eyes with drops and then do a thorough examination, including an assessment of the vitreous and retina.
