Macular Hole Causes
Macular Hole Causes
Macular holes usually occur in people over 60. As we age, the vitreous gel in the middle of the eye and the inner layers of the retina can pull and distort the central retina, potentially forming a macular hole.
Other, less common, causes of macular holes include:
- Eye injury
- Macular swelling
- Myopia
