Complications - Intragastric Balloon
Risks of Intragastric Balloon
Although this bariatric procedure is not considered major surgery, there are potential risks and side effects. Some side effects are more common as it may take some time for your body to adjust to the presence of the balloons.
Common side effects may include:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal pain
Although unlikely, there are risks of balloon deflation. The saline in the balloons is tinted blue which acts as an indicator. If you notice your urine is blue or green, you should immediately contact your doctor.
