Intragastric Balloon: Conditions Treated
Intragastric balloon can be successful in treating obesity in patients that have been not been able to lose weight through traditional methods, such as:
- Healthy eating and dieting
- Exercise
- Weight loss medications
Intragastric Balloon: Who Is a Candidate?
To be considered for this weight loss procedure, you must meet the following requirements:
- You have a body mass index (BMI) between 30-40 with a condition related to obesity, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol
- You have not had previous weight loss surgery
Prior to the intragastric balloon procedure, you will need an evaluation by your doctor to determine if this may be a good choice for you.
