Approaches to surgery for cervical cancer
Traditional open surgery is the recommended approach to treat cervical cancer in most cases.
In rarer cases, small-incision surgery may be an option. Small-incision surgery has 2 forms:
- Laparoscopic, done with a small incision in the belly and inserting a tiny camera
- Robotic, which also uses small incisions and a camera connected to a robot controlled by the surgeon
