My husband and I felt very heard by Dr. Chen. I felt like I could trust her with my treatment plans, that she has a genuine goal to make life with stage 4 cancer more like a chronic disease than a death sentence. I feel that if there were a discovery that could extend my life, she would be in communication with me right away.
I guess what I'm also trying to say is I felt very "seen" as a person, not just another patient with cancer.

Dr. Chen is exceptional! She has coordinated leading-edge treatments to rescue me multiple times over the last 8 years. This exceeds by far the original prognosis after my original colon cancer tumor resulted in metastatic growths even after the original conventional FOLFOX treatment.

I think May Chen is an outstanding physician... knowledgeable, professional, very caring and provides helpful and important information.
I enjoy working with her. She called one Friday evening after hours...because she'd noticed pneumonia on my CT scan.. She then forwarded an RX to my pharmacy so I could immediately start my medicines over the weekend. This was several years ago and I think it's a good example of "outstanding".

Dr. May Chen is amazing and one of the most caring specialists I've had. She always takes the time I need to answer my questions and explain my lab numbers to me, in addition to working with me to determine our plan of action.

I felt that doctor was rushing for the last part of the visit. She was using her computer during this time and not having a direct conversation with me. I understand the requirement to record information about the visit, but for me it is important to put away any electronic devices and have a direct communicate with the patient at the end of the visit.

My oncologist was concerned about my mother dying of ovarian cancer, and has made appointment for my being genetically tested for same.
Some of my visits are just for labs & an injection a shot - I don't see the doctor every visit - She calls me if she needs to - I am so grateful, I have her for a doctor. She goes above & beyond. She communicated with my other care providers. She is an advocate. I couldn't ask for more - She knows what I need when I don't.

Dr. May Chen prescribed "Colchioin" for my gout. It cured my gout in two days which I have suffered for two weeks.
Dr Chen is very thorough with her discussion and she makes sure I understand the proposed procedure. She also have alternative suggestions if the main procedure does not go well. She is a good listener and very patient in explaining when I ask questions.
Dr. Chen worked with me on new medications and making sure to talk about the research on meds and my compliance.

The staff personnel were excellent but I was especially amazed at the quality of service your volunteers were providing.
Dr. Chen is very pleasant and very easy to talk with. I had had CT Scans previously and other physicians had never taken the time to review CT Scan images with me. However, Dr. Chen did take the time to show and describe the images to me. Dr. Chen also spent time reviewing the options of chemotherapy vs. monitoring. Stanford Health Care is fortunate to have her on staff.
Dr. Chen is very professional, listens to my input and thoroughly discus the situation with different options.

I had breast cancer 10 years ago and kidney cancer 3 years ago. Dr. Chen has been my care provider from the start, and in all those years, I have never had one negative appointment or experience with her or her staff. Dr. Chen is an exceptional, professional, brilliant physician. I respect her and appreciate her highly and often recommend her enthusiastically. Not only is she an excellent oncologist, but she also truly cares about her patients. I always feel that she keeps up on the latest research and news regarding cancer treatment as well, and she has always recommended other excellent doctors and surgeons when need for my cancers.
