Alan Potter, MDiv

Alan earned his Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School, where he served on the University Judicial Board representing the divinity school and co-led the Prison Justice Action Committee. He completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center, followed by a residency and fellowship at Stanford Health Care specializing in inpatient Palliative Care. His commitment to inclusive and compassionate care is reflected in his work with diverse communities at Stanford, his justice work at Duke and his co-founding of Surf Haiti—a nonprofit featured in The New York Times and Outside Magazine that teaches local youth surf and tourism-related skills to support sustainable community development. Having made his home on Kauai for over 30 years, Alan loves to surf and freedive with his wife and three sons.
