When you have recurring abdominal pain, you may worry that you just have to live with it or that your pain is all in your head. But there's hope. At Stanford Health Care, we are one of just a few programs in the country with a clinic dedicated to meeting the unique needs of people with undiagnosed abdominal pain. Through an innovative partnership with the Stanford Pain Management Center, experts from the Digestive Health Center deliver much-needed diagnostic exams and treatment.
Why Choose Us: The Gastrointestinal (GI) Pain Clinic at Stanford Health Care
Since 2011, we have been helping patients manage pain from undiagnosed causes, as well as complex conditions, including gastroparesis and bowel obstruction. Our goal is to help you quickly gain access to pain specialists and create a personalized pain management plan, so you can start feeling better and get back to your busy lifestyle.
Recognized by the American Pain Society as a Clinical Center of Excellence, our large team of pain management specialists draws from a broad range of treatments to help manage your symptoms. Some of our innovative treatments include new therapies that focus on controlling activity in very specific areas of your nervous system.
Abdominal pain is the result of complex processes affecting multiple systems within your body. What sets our program apart is our coordinated approach to care. Instead of going to multiple specialists, our team comes together to deliver a comprehensive evaluation in just one visit.
Depending on your symptoms, your team may include a:

Our experts consider all the factors that could be responsible for your condition and develop a treatment plan that’s tailored to meet your specific needs. We share this information with you, so you can feel comfortable about your treatment options and know what to expect.
Clinical trials are research studies that evaluate a new medical approach, device, drug, or other treatment. As a Stanford Health Care patient, you may have access to the latest, advanced clinical trials.
Open trials refer to studies currently accepting participants. Closed trials are not currently enrolling, but may open in the future.
