Extending the reach of our nationally renowned liver disease program, Stanford’s liver disease specialists (hepatologists) provide comprehensive care in 16 outreach clinics.
Providing both liver disease and transplant care, these locations throughout Northern California and Nevada offer access to the best available treatments and Stanford’s expertise right in your home community.

Conditions Treated in Outreach Clinics
Conditions we treat include:
- Alcoholic cirrhosis: The most advanced form of alcoholic liver disease, alcoholic cirrhosis happens when scar tissue replaces soft healthy tissue in people who drink heavily
- Alcoholic hepatitis: Liver inflammation that happens in people who consume large amounts of alcohol over a long period of time
- Autoimmune hepatitis: A condition that happens when your body's immune system attacks your liver
- Hemochromatosis: Also known as iron overload disease, this condition happens when your body absorbs too much iron from the foods you eat
- Hepatomegaly: Swelling in your liver that can be a sign of an underlying condition, such as hepatitis
- Hepatitis A: A highly contagious liver infection caused by consuming contaminated food or water
- Hepatitis B: Liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus, transmitted through exposure to an infected person's blood or body fluid
- Hepatitis C: Liver infection caused by the hepatitis C virus that can lead to liver damage, if not treated
- Hepatitis D: A rare form of hepatitis that happens in people who have hepatitis B
- Liver cancer: Can be a complication of advanced liver disease or the result of cancer spreading to your liver from another organ
- Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH): Liver inflammation in people who drink little or no alcohol that happens when abnormal levels of fat build up in the liver
- Primary biliary cirrhosis: A rare form of cirrhosis that damages your ability to produce bile, which helps your liver do its job
