Cirrhosis Diagnosis
Cirrhosis: Diagnostic Procedures
Our team will begin the diagnosis phase by taking a complete medical history and performing a physical examination. We will also ask you about your symptoms.
We will do other tests and procedures to confirm a diagnosis, including:
- Laboratory tests: Including blood and urine tests. Learn more about laboratory tests.
- Liver function tests: Specialized blood tests to determine if your liver is functioning normally. Learn more about liver function tests.
- Liver biopsy: We take a small tissue sample from your liver to examine under a microscope. Learn more about liver biopsy.
- Cholangiography: A specialized X-ray of your bile ducts. Learn more about cholangiography.
- CT scan: A detailed X-ray to show cross-sectional images of the affected area. Learn more about CT scan.
- Ultrasound: Uses high-frequency sound waves to create images. Learn more about ultrasound.
