The implantable Enterra® gastric electrical stimulation device works by sending low energy, high frequency electrical pulses to the nerves in the stomach that lead to decreased symptoms of nausea and vomiting. This is not a gastric pacemaker. Unlike other surgical options, such as gastrectomy, gastric electrical stimulation is reversible.
