Meet the Expert: Dr. Michal “Miki” Goodwin
Meet the new Executive Director, Research Quality and Compliance, Office of Research Patient Care Services, Dr. Michal “Miki” Goodwin.
Dr. Miki Goodwin, a nursing leader with over 40 years of experience, began her career at the bedside in medical, surgical, and primary care nursing and has since traversed academia and practice, serving both as Chief Nursing Officer and University Dean.
In this newsletter, ORPCS is also excited to welcome three additional new members to their team, including Research Scientist, Jotam Pasipanodya, Program/Project Coordinator, Cynthia Falcon, and Clinical Research Associate, Pamela Josue.
Racism and the Sexual and Reproductive Health of Black Girls: ORPCS Webinar with Dr. Alicia Swartz
On Monday, February 27, 2023, ORPCS and the Academic Nursing & Health Equity departments hosted Research Grand Rounds with speaker, Alicia Swartz, PhD, RN, Assistant Professor of Pediatric Nursing at California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). During the webinar, Dr. Swartz highlighted preliminary findings from her pending publication, Racism and the Sexual and Reproductive Health of Black Girls: A Scoping Review.

In Spring of 2022, Dr. Cecelia L. Crawford from ORPCS was part of a team of researchers from a variety of academic and practice institutions who recently published a prospective cohort study in the journal Obesity.

Dr. Kyung Mi Kim, nurse scientist at the Office of Research Patient Care Services, published a new article in JAMA Network Open on February 9, 2023 entitled: Patient Characteristics Associated with Occurrence of Preoperative Goals-of-Care Conversations.

Menlo Park, CA – On February 6, 2023, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Youth and Family Services Bureau hosted Stanford Health Care’s Office of Research Patient Care Services (ORPCS) staff at the Deputy Sheriff’s Hall in Pleasanton, California.
