Article I: ORPCS Nurse Scientist Presents at the Western Institute of Nursing (WIN) Conference
In April 2023, Zaina Alzawad, PhD, MANP, M.Ed, RN, Nurse Scientist in the Office of Research Patient Care Services presented a poster entitled "Parental Stress in the PICU: A Concept Analysis" at the Western Institute of Nursing (WIN) 56th Annual Communicating Nursing Research Conference.
Article II: American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing’s 48th Annual Conference
Stanford Health Care’s Ambulatory Care Shared Leadership Council presented a poster at the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing’s 48th Annual Conference which was held April 12 – 14, 2023 in Orlando, FL.
Article III: 2023 American Organization of Nurse Leaders Conference Presentation
The American Organization of Nurse Leaders Conference, “Inspiring Leaders,” was held in Anaheim, CA from May 2-5, 2023. A concurrent session was presented by Dr. Michelle Y. Williams and Cecelia L. Crawford (for Dr. Yan in absentia) entitled “History of Racism in Medicine: The Nurse Leader’s Role in Health Equity.”

On May 19, 2023, the Chin Family Institute for Nursing held a symposium at the Los Angeles Zoo entitled “Nurse-to-Nurse Incivility: The Elephant in the Room.

On March 16, 2023, Dr. Williams and Dr. O’Rourke spoke on “The Organizational Research Infrastructure: Theory-Driven, Hardwired, Sustainable Nurse-Led Research Practice and Knowledge Development.”
Article I: Stanford Health Care Hosts Healthcare Con 2023
After three years of virtual conferences, Stanford Health Care proudly hosted Healthcare Con on June 12, 2023 and June 13, 2023 at the Stanford University campus.
Article II: SHC Office of Research Patient Care Services celebrates the inaugural SJSU Nursing student interns!
The Office of Research Patient Care Services (ORPCS) thanked the inaugural group of San Jose State University nursing student interns with a celebratory lunch at the end of the Spring 2023 semester.
Article III: The Research and Innovation Council (RIC) Applies Research Evidence to the Creation of Shared Leadership Bylaws
Quyen Ly and Olivia Tang serve as co-chairs of the Research and Innovation Council (RIC), a critical arm of Shared Leadership at Stanford Health Care. Dr. Michelle DeCoux Hampton currently serves as an advisor to the council on behalf of the Office of Research.

Stanford Health Care’s Office of Research Patient Care Services recently sponsored a grant for the 2023 Global Health Seed.
Article I: 2023 Cycle I Legacy Grant Recipients
The Stanford Nurse Alumnae awards Legacy Grants to 6 recipients in Cycle I of 2023. The grants are intended to perpetuate the Stanford University School of Nursing’s tradition of excellence in nursing practice, leadership, education, and research.
Article II: Does a combination of health coaching and self-monitoring apps have a significant effect in people with overweight and obesity?
Dr. Kyung Mi Kim, nurse scientist at the Office of Research Patient Care Research (ORPCS), along with her team performed a meta-analysis on the combined effects of self-monitoring smartphone apps and health coaching on the effectiveness on anthropometric, cardiometabolic, and lifestyle outcomes in people with overweight and obesity.
Article I: ORPCS Directors Awarded Article of the Year in Teaching and Learning in Nursing Journal
The entire ORPCS team would like to express heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Michelle DeCoux Hampton, PhD, RN and Dr. Lynette V. Apen, DNP, RN, whose article received the distinguished recognition, “Article of the Year for 2022” from the Teaching and Learning in Nursing journal’s (TELN) editorial board.

Article III: Stanford Nurse Alumnae 62nd Annual Luncheon
On Saturday, April 22, 2023, the Stanford Nurse Alumnae held their 62nd Annual Luncheon at Menlo Park’s Allied Arts Guild. Dr. Michelle Y. Williams delivered the keynote address entitled: Expanding the Footprint of Nursing Research and the Academic Presence of Nursing at Stanford.
