Supporting Your Transplant Success
During all stages of your treatment at Stanford's Liver Transplant Program, we are a resource for you and your family. We want you to be informed about your procedure, follow-up care, and medication regimen so that you can be an active partner in your care.
As part of the pre-transplant evaluation process, all referred patients meet with a transplant nurse coordinator for a 90-minute educational session and receive written materials regarding all aspects of transplantation. Patients are also encouraged to attend the Liver Transplant Support Group directed by our transplant social workers. This is an important educational process in understanding the variable outcomes of liver transplantation and what to expect.
After transplant, we provide one-on-one education and give our patients the Stanford Liver Transplant Discharge Manual, a binder of complete information regarding all details of post transplant management.
