After the Procedure

After you arrival in recovery, the nurse may invite one family member to your bedside. All patients who receive sedation require a minimum of 30 minutes recover time in endoscopy.

If you have arranged for someone to pick you up, we will be happy to call him or her after your procedure. When they arrive at the main entrance to pick you up, they can call us at 650-725-8117.

Otherwise, when you are ready to be discharged, your family or friend will be instructed to bring the car to the hospital's main entrance. You will remain in the endoscopy unit until the transporter is available to take you out by wheelchair.

While you are waiting for your ride, we will give you post-procedure instructions and contact information if you have any concerns or questions after you leave.

In the next few weeks, you may receive a survey card in the mail. We hope that you will take the time to compete and return the survey. We are interested in hearing from you as we work to improve the services we provide.
