Custom CAP Treatment
VISX has recently received FDA approval for the use of the topographically driven Custom Contour Ablation Pattern (Custom CAP) Method under a Humanitarian use Device Exemption (HDE).
With Custom CAP treatment the laser surgeon can perform a treatment precisely controlled by size, depth and location making it possible to reshape the cornea for optimum correction. By using the VISX Star S4 active track excimer laser together with a corneal topographer and highly specialized ablation planning software, the surgeon is able to address decentrations resulting from previous treatments.
Dr. Manche has received special training and special permission from the FDA to become a Custom CAP treatment center. Dr. Manche was the first physician in the United States to perform Custom CAP.
