She has excellent communication skills that are lacking in most doctors. Many doctors rush and cut me off and will make me miss something in my notes, yet Dr. Tan’s communication style prompts me to quickly check my notes for something I forgot to ask. It’s a unique ability to be so thorough without making the patient feel cut off and left with unanswered questions they later wish they’d asked - and do so in a timely way.

As an obese woman, she is one of the only doctors who has not been distracted by my weight when determining appropriate treatment. She has actually helped me identify issues that are not part of her expertise even after getting several opinions.
Her recommendation to see a dermatologist helped end a 4+ month cycle of doctors being unable to identify the actual issue at hand.
A few having assumed i was diabetic and the injury was cellulitis, even after seeing recent test results proving i was not.
I am so grateful for her and only wish there were more genuinely caring doctors like her in this world.

I am also diabetic. I am feeling healthy and my sugar level has been perfect. based on my blood tests and research she prescribes medications to manage my health. Dr. Tan was fantastic. Shared lots of knowledge and had great bedside manner/empathy towards my condition. Was proactive and provided great recommendations during visit, included me in decision making in next steps, provided immediate lab results & feedback via MyHealth. Impressed with her assistants as well. Only issue I had was securing a follow-up appointment since the one date given by the doctor I had a conflict with travel so needed to schedule a different date option. Got caught up in a crazy phone tree/time sink when trying to make that return appointment. System seems limited when removed from direct contact with person securing the appointment times available with doctor. Told there was no direct number to call back to at the doctor's office/sent through a phone tree at the clinic several calls later and emails later.....Seems to be an easy fix with direct communication simplified some how.

Dr. Tan is a great doctor with a great bedside manner. The staff on site are always very friendly and professional. My biggest problem is that since I'm being treated for something that causes anxiety it is troubling that my doctor does not have the full authority to prescribe all the required medication for my specific ailment, causing me to have to go to other doctors outside of Stanford, in order to get all the prescriptions required to treat my ailment. I understand the need for oversight but I don't understand tying the hands of the doctors so that they cannot write prescriptions for certain medication (anti anxiety medication re: for Graves related anxiety) when it is clearly called for in specific instances.
