Care and Treatment at Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Optometry
Conditions Treated at Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Optometry
Conditions that are screened for include various refractive changes in eye conditions such as:
- Nearsightedness (myopia)
- Farsightedness (hyperopia)
- Dry Eyes
- Eye Strain
These conditions may require changes in lenses, and in extreme cases may lead to retinal problems. Loss of normal accommodation causes reduced focusing ability (presbyopia) and difficulty reading after the age of 40, requiring prescription glasses for comfortable reading.
Other potentially more serious problems that patients are checked for at yearly visits include:
- Cataracts
- Glaucoma
- Macular degeneration
- Corneal degeneration
- Ocular inflammation (uveitis)
- Vascular problems involving the retina that may accompany high blood pressure or diabetes mellitus
