Employers know us as care providers for workers in the Tri-Valley. We also provide a safe environment and manage injuries for the 1,400 employees of Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley. Since 2010, our efforts have resulted in decreasing workers’ compensation claims.

Our occupational health team routinely treats on-the-job injuries ranging from relatively minor to limb-threatening. We provide initial and ongoing care for:
- Animal bites
- Bone fractures
- Cuts and abrasions
- Repetitive stress injuries: Damage from overuse of joints and muscles or incorrect positioning (ergonomic problems)
- Sprains and strains: Injured muscles, tendons, and ligaments in joints, such as the ankle, knee, wrist, back, or shoulder
We evaluate and treat acute (sudden) or chronic (ongoing) conditions resulting from situations in the workplace.
- Hearing problems caused by one-time or ongoing exposure to noise
- Illness caused by unsafe substances: Sickness from breathing, touching, or swallowing chemicals, airborne contaminants, or other substances, including ongoing illnesses such as lung fibrosis from exposure to coal or silica dust

Specialized Testing
Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley Occupational Health Services offers pre-employment tests to confirm that applicants can safely and successfully meet physical requirements to perform essential job functions. We perform a wide range of tests including:
- Vision and hearing: Complete eye exams to test vision, and audiometry (hearing) tests performed by a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (CAOHC certified)
- Job task performance
- Spirometry: Lung health testing performed by NIOSH-certified professionals
- Diagnostic imaging: X-rays, CT scans, MRI, or other required imaging
- Heart and lung testing: Electrocardiogram (EKG) treadmill stress test to measure heart and lung health

As part of Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley, Occupational Health Services gives you 24-hour access to high-quality, emergency medical care at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton. For nonemergency injuries after regular business hours, workers should report to our urgent care center in Livermore.
